Seems to have a bit of room now all cleaned, surprised what gets in between the two over 50 yrs.
Guess even a couple of wrap, up and down, of insulation tape, may help.
    Thanks

I pulled one out that a very, very, fussy previous owner had wrapped in Denso Tape many years ago and it just lifted out like the day it was installed.

    Other centre.
Right hand corner, cut off, fitted straight into the hole below it.
Left hand, needed an extra bit added.

I think 1/4" is within the manufacturing tolerance of the chassis!

    Thanks.

Rarely used to fix anything. They are fitted to enable the attachment of a toolbar for towing agricultural machinery, rarely used except in conjunction with a rear PTO.

I have seen them fitted to less than 1% of Series Landrovers after the 80" (they were pretty much standard on the 80", in fact, I think early ones were welded on), and they were probably used on less than 1% of the ones that had the toolbar fitted.

The toolbar was a flat steel bar extending most of the lowest part of the crossmember, and projecting back about two inches. It had a row of holes (5/8"?) about three inches apart, to enable various towed implements to be offset as required relative to the Landover's centreline.
