    You may want to consider changing to electronic ignition at some time and doing away with the points and condenser maintenance issues.
    Powerspark make a great product that I have used on both my S3's with great success. Not huge money either.

    Hi Phil,

    Yes, totally agree with you but I believe the engine was made to last the way it is and probably the points, condenser and other stuff never received any care for the past 40 yrs... I think it is part of the character of the car the fact owners need to get their hands dirty sometimes...!
    And it is nice to work on the car!!

    I'm sure you wont wait another 40yrs to change them again.
    There are significant improvements that can be achieved with pick up, starting and reliability though.
    Your choice but enjoy!!
