Colin, how hard is it to pull the box apart and replace the o-ring? Or should I just plan to top it up regularly

Easier to get back together off the vehicle.
If I look back through some of my posts I'll find some pictures when I get home tonight.
Found it, read from here, there's a few pictures of it stripped and the problem with pitting.

I have an overhaul kit somewhere in my workshop that is surplus to my use - it will at least have the side plate and the end gaskets. There may be a full set of bearings also floating about there too.

Two of the bearing races are part of the steering shaft, if they're pitted it's time for a new shaft (well maybe a secondhand steering column instead).
I have pictures somewhere of a badly pitted shaft.
