Wow , if people are willing to pay 20K for Series 3's I might give the Tray I picked up from a farm for $1500 a quick resto job and move it on instead of putting it on a Disco1 Chassis . Its in almost too good a condition to hack as the chassis is mint, still see factory chalk marks on it.

    This one ?
1977 Land Rover Series 3 SWB | Cars, Vans & Utes | Gumtree Australia Port Stephens Area - Nelson Bay | 1245480481

    Restored 2008.
    Looks complete & original.
Have the galvanised parts been re galvanised, can't really tell but look like they're painted in the pictures.

Not sure Series III's are worth $20K yet but it is nice condition.

Yes that is a nice one, which will appreciate for sure, if not abused left in its original condition. Don't think its quite at 20k yet though.

Now that one looks good! It's about the only S3 that I've said that about. Beautifully restored and the dash is fantastic, the very area that makes S3's look rubbish at this age.

I can see the value in that one without having seen underneath the car or bonnet.

Flamin' hell, I just sold my stage 1 v8 for $6k! Registered and going strong ...

I've got to live with myself though. If one gets known as a greedy ***** when selling, don't expect any favours when you need bits for your next project... I've given away parts to many to keep their projects moving along. It's just how we roll in our local landy community. Tips when buying your first series III

Thats about where Stage 1 's are and hae been for the last few years. At the moment, the Series 1 prices have gone off and the 88's prices have gone up for the last 2 years. The LWB's are not where its happening at this stage, my thinking is the S2 are cleaner than the S3 though. The Stage 1 V8 are often around $5 give or take but seem to selling sell faster than the other LWBs but slower than the SWB. I think the the Stage 1's will be the next to go off price wise though.

Yeah, I'm not s sure about the 109, they have never been worth as much as 88 as far as collectors go , 107 though , I'd love a Station Wagon though a Ute would be fine. Too bad they never made a Stage1 SWB .

I suggest getting some one to have a look at the vehicle with you and work out what needs repairs or what is good.
It can be very expensive fixing a lot of bits and time consuming.
Even if you pay top dollars you may still need to be a mechanic, but that is part of owning a landrover.

The other option is pay more and buy a Puma SWB and you will have something a lot more reliable and less spanner work needed.

Have you looked at the former military ones available through Frontline? At least you know they have been properly maintained.

    Or this one?

Check out this 1959 Land Rover Rover SWB Manual 4x4.

I did look at this one but it would cost well over $6000 to even get it looking great and original dont you think.
