As I understand it the percentage is a percentage change to the load signal. So for example, if running with 0-5V load output, and the MAF or TPS input of the interceptor is set for 0-5V, then if the given load signal is 3V, and you have applied a 4% increase to that point in the map, it will add 4% of 3V which is an extra 0.12V so you get 3.12V output.
Your fooling the ECU into thinking it's at a higher load then is given, so more fuel is injected.
The Tornado (mark adams) chip from RPi does make changes to injector duty cycle and will add further benefits.
Once I have this installed I will only be using the fuel map to smooth out A/F ratios if needed after certain modifications.
