It is a dye not a paint. Makes them look new again.

G'day all,
Just curious if anybody had any tips for the best methods for tarting up very faded black plastic bits on a County 110. There is nothing wrong with them but the rad grille and head light surrounds are so faded now they resemble a kind of chalky charcoal grey then black.
Before I jump to it I wondered if anybody has any particular advice on best way to tart them up to black again? What did you use ... what do you recommend?
Cheers, Simon.

spray paint them........
or.......you can hit them with a bit of heat from a hot air gun or hairdryer......
but i dont know how long it will stay looking good.......this is a trick used when selling vehicles........
Whatever you do DON'T follow this advice. The dye costs about the same as a can of spray paint but is about a million times better. I used it on all my plastic (grille/dash/etc...) bits in ~2000, and they still look like new whenever I can be bothered cleaning the mud off.
Thanks gents ...
The VHT dye looks just about right ... I had initially thought of giving them a coat of matte black paint but the VHT looks much better.
Cheers, Simon.
Thanks Ben ...
By the way ... you're not the same Ben who did all that great engineering of the leaf springs on your Series II a few years back are you? If so ... long time mate - I recall you giving me plenty of advice on how you did yours but I sold mine off before I got around to it.
If I got the wrong Ben ... no worries.
Best, Simon.
A cheap option if the plastic is not too bad is to use some smooth peanut butter. Put some on a rag, and rub it in - seriously, this works heaps better than any commersial plastic restorers, but if it is too far gone, then the dye may be the go.
