No, it's inside that part - where the axle runs through.
An update Disco? I think they were greased bearings but not 100% on that.It is a March 94 Build if that helps identify if it should have originally been grease or oil based
I can't see how the bearings would be lubricated by oil? Shouldn't the swivel hubs be full of oil and the bearings packed with grease?
If the inner stub axle seal is removed, then oil can transfer from the swivel housing into the hub bearings. This is 'converting to oil fed'.
If you look in the Good Oil, there's a section there on this subject. I recently converted Dobbo's Defender front axle to oil fed bearings & drilled a feed hole in the stub axle (as in the GO) to help.
