If you are redoing the exhaust, ditch the centre muffler and replace with a straight through pipe. Does make a real difference to:

    * Turbo spool up at lower revs
    * Torque curve seems to keep going at upper end of rev range instead of dying
    * Slightly lower EGTs (the EGT alarm in my Madman EMS2 goes off less often when towing up frequently visited hills). I'm guessing 20-30 deg C less EGT.
I noticed an earlier spool and more torque on my old 200tdi when I had it done.. and that was just a crush-pipe job (non mandral) I am just near Byron Bay and the hill heading south 'St Helena' is the ultimate test. ...I gained 10k's per/hr up there with my old exhaust job(usually screaming in 4th doing 80)

(I raced a 300tdi 110 up there the other night, bit of a funny thing to see)

the new exhaust is somewhat of a hybrid, mandrals on the steep sections and crush bends where it only bends slightly, high flow muffler and the 2nd rear muffler removed. $600 for the exhaust.
I quoted up a complete mandral bent system and that was $1200. but not sure if I want to spend that much.

I am going to get the exhaust done before the tickle up, seems the wise thing to do.

This is specifically what they will do to the pump and the reasons why http://www.aulro.com/afvb/attachment...ng-20rev.2.pdf

Written by one of our own who also makes and sells pyros.

You can do it all yourself if mechanically inclined and so only costs time, apart from the cost of a pyro.
