I've isolated the leek in the cruise control to the vacuum pump.
Can the vacuum pump be serviced or do I have to get a new one?
I'm thinking that the rubber hoses are 13 yrs old and probably a bit porous by now.

Yes, I can second that Falcon electric vac. pmps from the 1990s are very similar - just different wiring connectors, as I recall.
Any reason the factory cruise control can't be plumbed into the brake booster vacuum system? That's what I did for the aftermarket cruise control on my 300Tdi. Worked perfectly for many years until the actuator diaphragm started to leak.

Hi Leo
What brand of after market cruise did you fit? Im going to install one on my auto 300tdi disco 1. Interested in anyones experiences of doing this .
thanks
Hi Lindsay,
The one I used was a Command AP60. I bought it from a Supercheap Auto shop about 10 years ago now and it worked well for several years until the actuator failed. Don't know if SCA still sell them. Been meaning to try to get a replacement for a while now but...
I recall the kit was very comprehensive, with lots of fittings and odds & ends to enable it to be adapted to different throttle systems. The kit didn't come with a clutch cut-out switch to suit manual vehicles but I worked out a circuit to include this. You wouldn't need this with an auto.

I have fitted a couple over the last few years, including a 300TDi in a RRC and a 2.8TD Rodeo. Used brake vacuum in both cases, ran well that way.
thanks Bee-Utey and Leo
I will grab one off ebay and see how it goes.
With the brake vacuum - can you tell me how you did that?
cheers

that might be a bit too high tech for the old D1
thx
