I have fitted AP60's to 3 Triumph 2500's and 2 to Triumph TR7's. Have just finished fitting another to a 1951 Austin A90 which is positive earth. That was a bit more of a challenge. For the price, they are excellant.
I have an AP150? in my RRC 3.9, the tech fitted one with pulse from the VSS and I have bought a new "motor" from Command a couple of years ago. They have great tech assistance and a very helpful to the extent of sending me a new loom.
I am pretty sure you could get a new motor for an AP 50. AFAIR they are about $125.
Mine runs on engine vacuum, and is fine except that sometimes there is not quite enough vacuum at full throttle to kick down on long steep hills.

Gday bee utey
I bought an AP60 unit off ebay and now everything is fitted. All I have to do now is wire up power to the ignition, connect to the brake switch and get the vacuum from the booster line.
With the vacuum I am a bit concerned it will be tricky to get a good join/seal at the T piece as the existing line is very rigid. Obviously I dont want to compromise the braking in any way. Did you tap into the original line or replace it with something easier to work with?
thanks
pretty sure my D1 is all mechanical - the vent selection and the heater control seems to be. Maybe the recirc switch? There is only the one outlet on the vacuum pump that I can see. I think bee utey just used the brake line - maybe he can shed some light on this.
bewdy thanks
Today there were TWO 300TDi's here, one I'm working on and the RRC mentioned below dropped by. So it's really easy. The brake vacuum pipe is ended by a piece of rubber hose and a hose clamp straight on to the vac pump. Just pull off the hose & clamp, find a 40mm length of matching hose, a suitable tee piece and refit with the tee between the old hose and the short new bit. Easy really.
thanks bee utey
The vac pump on 300 tdi is a pulse type, pulling vac down in the brake booster incrementally. Perhaps a one way valve in the cruise control line might even out its performance?
