Hmm! Timing belt change coming up I feel, did a oil change on 'Fred' today and while I was at it, I undid both wading plugs, the bell housing was dry as, but the timing case had about half a eggcup full of oil come out of the hole, that's after 2000 Klm's I have done since I put the plugs in for a wet trip.

I will be replacing both the timing belt and the front engine seals at the same time. But first I will have a look in the inspection hole I made in the timing case cover, it's under where the pulley on the airconditioning belt tensioner sits, so I will have a look to see if any oil was being picked up by the belt. If the belt is dry I might leave changing it until I have some free time and leave the wading plug in the glovebox.

Ur right mick. Heavy sucker , once I knocked it of the spigot bush lot easier to pull the motor than the box. Got a mate who does heads up so might go see him after I remove it. Bit of a grind and some hardened seats and new exh valves. Never have to remove it again, I hope. I might even do the rear main seal while its out and fix the stripped sump plug...maybe.

What did you do on your Landy today?

    Over the last week:
Replaced FPR with rebuilt by me unit.
    Attachment 91464
    Removed and cleaned Inlet manifold.
    Attachment 91465

Replaced the water pump, refitted the turbo along with making a bespoke oil return line for the turbo and refitted (includes a take off for Provent return line
    Attachment 91466
Line leaves extra clearance for the oil filter!!!!
    Attachment 91467

Then Fabricated a bracket and mounted the provent unit.
    Attachment 91468

    All done!
    Attachment 91469

Also carried out some fabrication work on the rear bar, added some LED reverse lights and tidied up some surface rust.
    (Pics tomorrow - forgot tonight)

Will be finishing some welding on the bar tomorrow and then refitting.

That just leaves the interior (roof trim and reassembly) and then some accessory wiring...

Well I pulled the head off the motor yesterday, No. 2 has a burnt exhaust valve. Head is a low compression type. Motor has been bored 60thou, looks all ok. Might remove the sump today and fix the sump plug if I can get one 2nd oversize. Will prob do the rear main seal even tho its not leaking much. Hmmmm.....so much to do but no motivation today

    Cheers Rod

Fitted my mantec snorkel, Nugget stuff intake seal (neat and clever thought out piece of kit, but removing the old pipes and fitting Nugget's is a PITA and requires the skills of a contortionist ) and black checkerplate wing tops.
