Well the heater hose is a blessing and a curse. Curse because it's something else I have to replace, a blessing because I found it before it left me stranded on the side of the road!
Wiring will need to be sorted out.
Not sure what's with the welch plug, it might be old or it might be new. I'll clean it up and see what happens.
Manifold was pretty much expected, it's a Td5 after all
Well, I didn't do it - but I paid for it to get done. My D3 got treated to some new boots today - Bridgey Dueler 697's

I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food
A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

Well the other day I pulled the motor out of my s3, a 186 red from an HR holden coz the clutch felt funny. Turned out the pressure plate had a broken diaphragm spring. Anyway, as described in an earlier post, I finally got the head back, one reground exhaust valve and seat, coz valves were no longer available. Appears the head was recond at sometime and 15th oversize valves, (stems and heads) were fitted to overcome the valve guide wear. My head recond guy leak tested the other valves and refaced the head. Valve spring tensions reset and new valve stem seals. All good and $50 bucks. Motor had been rebored 60th and flat tops fitted. Refitted head during the week (low compression head) and fitted new clutch. Checked bearing clearances, 2.5th at 10 th undersize mains and bigends. Resealed rear main cap. New sump gasket (of course), new o/size sump plug, (No.2), then refitted motor. Beautiful, straight in, (aligned clutch by eye), (EYE still got it, LOL). All in and running smooth as silk after I set the timing to 8deg btdc. Started first time. Gotta love it when a motor starts for the first time. Plenty oil pressure. Then I fitted the exhaust pipe. Fitted new limit straps to the rear diff coz one broke while it was hanging on the hoist. Then I discovered the new Britpart
brake light switch I fitted a couple months ago (Bought from England) has failed completely. So have to get another one locally now and probably pay a premium for it
. Ahh well its all for the love of Land Rovers isn't it
?? Looking forward to tomorrow afternoon and driving the old girl home
Cheers Rod

i managed to get a s1 86", cant find a readable chassis number, 2l motor going. It was parked up under a tree about 40years ago, we just put 4 wheels on and pushed out and onto a trailer. quite surprisingly it only took a set of plugs and a clean up of the points, a bit of petrol down the throat and a few cranks on the starter!
At least I can drive onto the trailer when it goes to my mates farm!

I replaced the auxiliary drive belt on the 2010 Puma today after 135K. Had been told not to bother until it showed signs of wear, but I'd rather do it in the carport than out bush or somewhere.
Ended up being a much longer job than anticipated because I took notice of the smarties who said it can be done without removing the fan.
I suspect it can but it's easier taking a few minutes more and taking the fan off first.
I've done a write up for those who want to do the job if they need it. I'll put it in a section like maybe the "good oil" or something.
