Engine oil change and filters. Also cleaned the contacts on the temperature sensor which got the temp gauge working properly - it was only moving part way up to the mid point 'normal' range. I have a Madman monitor as well which has been showing the engine temp as normal throughout.
Diffs, t case, transmission to be done.

Went out to the s3 this morning, removed the non functioning alternator, partially stripped it down. Found the outer slip ring had a lot of green corrosion on it. Quick clean with some emry paper and free up the sticky brush, reassemble and refit. Test, ok. charging at 13.8 volts. Another job done.
Checked the speedo not working. Had previously fitted a now cable but it didnt work. Jacked up the rear end and sat on stands. Removed dash panel and started the old girl. The cable was ok. So while it was still running in 5th gear i refitted the cable. It went on heaps more than i thought it would. Speedo working now. Must have jammed the drive to the side on the speedo head. Refitted dash cluster. Retested all good.
Paid the rego after id fixed it and now going out on an LRRSA club run tomorrow to birdwood mill anniversary do.

Replaced the lower universal on the steering column. Looks like a simple job, but it turns out to be a lot harder than you think to get spanners on both ends of the bolts and then turn them. Everything seems to be in the way from power steering hoses to engine mounts to throttle cable. Finally got the job completed - hope I have not managed to get the steering one spline out, and the wheel is still centred in straight ahead.
Carried out semi-permanent repairs to the RH front flare, taped up since a roo strike last summer. Pop rivetted a bit of thin SS sheet inside the flare.
Finished the 590,000km service by lubricating the door and bonnet locks and the door hinges.

Chalk and cheese with the two cars, but interested in seeing what model you got etc
Changed the diffs, transfer and gearbox oils yesterday. Today I'll grease the swivels and propshaft. Then I'll adjust the steering stops to hopefully give a bit better turning circle.
Then I'll kick the Cook out, sell the Deafener and buy a decent vehicle.....
