Last night... Finished off replacing the bottom radiator hose, top hose, the two low-pressure power steering hoses (with the most expensive high-pressure/long life ones that lots of money bought... ) along with all new clamps. Heroic effort to tighten clamps.

-( Had to rebuild a significant section of the pump inlet spigot with Selleys' Knead-It. - Worked a treat!)

Possibly my imagination, but steering is a tad lighter using 5W-30 Synthetic oil.

    Treated and bandaged hands afterwards....

Found & fixed an air leak in the suspension. ;-)

Can't road-test 'cos #2 son has parked his work-van behind it, and shot through for the day.

Looking sideways at the replacement transfer case still sitting in the back....

Pulled the water pump mounting bracket to replace the o-ring between block and bracket. Replaced the water pump while I was at it. I'm obviously a hack mechanic as it has taken me substantially longer than the 1.5 hours JustinC suggested. Spent about 4 hours yesterday and still need to finish refitting the accessory belt, fan, hoses and refill coolant. A fully equipped workshop would have made the task a lot easier no doubt.

A couple of the bolts are awkwardly placed and removing the centrifuge drain pipe and housing would have made it far easier to get at these. One bolt was accessible using a 1/4" drive 13mm but it felt like I'd destroy the ratchet before I could apply sufficient force to loosen the bolt. The body of a 1/2" drive 13mm socket was too long to fit into the space available, so I had to carefully "crack" the bolt with a ring spanner, then use the 1/4" drive socket. I'm sure having 3/8" drive sockets on hand would have made getting that bolt out significantly faster.

Fitted a rear diff guard, steering guard, bullbar hooks and a straight through exhaust pipe to replace the middle muffler.

Front diff guard needs a couple of brackets welded - That's not what I ordered.

Replaced leaking p gasket. Lots of fun in campground overlooking Derwent River in Hobart. Took longer than it would have at home but view was infinitely better.

    Cheers

    tried but no good

Tried to pull number one piston out of Al the 300TDi engine, no good as the conrod is too bent to pass up through the bore.

So Fred the Disco does not have it's engine yet !

I swapped the black coolant tank for a clear one (low coolant sensor/alarm to follow), and gave the chassis a bit of a clean in preparation for a coat of Waxoyl tomorrow...
