I put a new electronic distributor and coil on the series 3 2.6ltr, adjusted the valve gaps (yes all of them!).
I also tightened up the exhaust flange which was loose and the exhaust manifold for good measure.
You gotta love doing the exhaust valve gap adjustments over the tool bolts on the front wings, the bolts have ripped my shirt beyond anything wearable. Just the landy's way of getting another oil rag!

Got home after nearly three weeks of sitting in a bl#4*y Scania, looked at my D1 with it's bonnet up and came in for a drink.
Rang Mario to confirm my parts so I can get the head back on over Easter.
Oh, and rang A*****n about my D2. I've forgotten what it looks like.

Gave the Disco II a full service and general check/clean and today will hand over to the new owner.

The DII has served us well for the past 8+ years with only a few of the minor DII ideosyncrasies and no major faults. Having fixed, in preparation for sale, a number of minor items that have been hanging around for a few years (the three amigos, sagging roof lining, cracked rear bumper etc I've really enjoyed driving it for past few weeks. It's a sad day to see it go but unfortunately I just haven't got the room for too many Landys so have to restrict the stable to two.

So how did you find the pointless electronic dizzy?
    Is it a noticeable improvement?

Had to make use of the hoist at Mandurah DIY, Syd is packing up in the next couple of weeks, due to lack of customers.....more loss to them.So the D4 got a birthday...oil/filter changes, fuel filter, wheel bearings, rotors and pads, rotated wheels, fitted GOE rods..Should be right for a year or two, next engine oil change will use the suction method.

Had a couple of hours, so I replaced the waterpump, the belt tensioner, cleaned the block surface and refitted the head. Oiled the threads and started fitting the bolts. Then took it all off again to get the back two bolts in. Spent about an hour looking for my 50mm socket extension. No luck. Nobody open, so I called stumps. Thern I remembered I have a 19mm extra deep impact socket which is perfect, but I'd cracked a beer, so down tools. Should have it going tomorrow.

Oh, and spent another day cursing that I didn't INSIST on a decent garage when we were buying a house. A half arsed carport is not the place to do this sort of thing.

Had new tyres fitted. Went with A/T type on my 18" rims as changing the wheels to the 16's with the M/T is tedious for one day outings. Had been putting it off and took advantage of a 4 tyres for the price of 3 deal on 255/55R18 Nitto Terra Grappler 2.
