After being parked for 2 weeks George wouldn't start despite having a 6 month old battery. Charger read 11.9. Left it on the charger for 24 hours and now reads 13.3. Took it for a decent drive to make sure. So, what's draining the battery?

If you've got a multimeter test it for parasitic drain (simpler to google it than for me to explain it). How old is the alternator ?

    1. Fitted new SLS air springs - Contitech like the originals as the Dunlops didn't last at all well.
    2. SLS compressor piston seal replacement. Had been concerned that raising the SLS to off-road height was taking way too long. Found a layer of carbon like muck in the cylinder which was cleaned up. A really straight forward maintenance task. New bags pumped up to off-road height in seconds.
    3. Finally fitted the ABS extension cables to the back wheels. These are the item from Expedition Exchange. They are way too long so have the excess coiled up and zip tied out of the way.

    All easy stuff.

Swapped the crap headlights in the defer with the Cibie Z's I found in the garage *winning* but didn't check what globes the old units were running before shelling out for new Phillips Extreme Visions *losing* at least the overall outcome is considerably better light output and a spare set of globes

Did you do the filter for the compressor too? The "carbon" could be dust mixed with moisture if the foam filter has failed.

Question LT-230 Q G suffix rebuid in progress

Its winter and not a lot to do, so I pulled my spare TC apart, I bought it from a disco-2. ( the TC gear shift bracket, and wiring harness are giveaways if anyone wants them)

Its been rebuilt before and took some getting apart with all the sealant.
The fine high range gears are in almost perfect condition, the course low range gears look like they have never been engaged, and the engagement dogs are unmarked.
The gear sector and shaft are like new.
The casing has been crudely bushed on the intermediate shaft at the securing nut end, the intermediate shaft has some rubbing marks and the front end on the casing has maybe 1 thou of clearance. I'll get a new shaft and its borderline for me to get the casing bushed at the front or not. The input gear splines look nice and square.
Without opening the center diff I can't tell its condition but it looks perfect as well, it may have been replaced in the rebuild.
I spoke to MR auto motive they can do refurbished TC case for $220, that might be the way to go.
I have an Ashcroft ATB diff center to go in and the TC will be going into my defender.
I think there's a link somewhere about changing the TC rear output housing for the defender one, to get the mechanical speedo drive and the driveshaft flanges are different as well. cheers simmo.

Good pick up. It's already done. The compressor has done a pretty good job I think it's been in since about 2007 and was a new replacement after the first one failed after 4ish years.

Removed a flat tyre yesterday on the s3.
Fitted one i had lying around with air in it.
Removed tyre and tube and found bit of crap inside tyre had rubbed through the tube. Put a patch on the hole and another patch on a spot not rubbed through yet.
Sprinkled talc on tube and refitted it and tyre.
    Now holding air.
    Refitted wheel tonight.

Will drive to lrrsa club meeting tomorrow.

    Love it

    Cheers Rod
