Went exploting a few trails that are very officially locked from the exit end.

Hit a roo at 90k's at 01:00 on wed morn, disco 0.5, roo nil. LH lights, guard, grille, headlight trims on both sides, A/C fan.

Best rap for the Fyrlyts, body of the roo was wedged into the headlight, the head smacked into the LH driving light and only moved on its mount and wedged the head inbetween the hoop of the bar had body of the light. No damage at all to the light or lens. Had to lever the roo off with the hillift and then drag it off kicking and screaming. Found another use for the hilift.

When you consider that the: Gearboxes are the same, the diffs are the same, the suspension is the same, the body lengths are adjusted from "original" in the name of parity, cooling systems - same, ROPS structure is essentially the same incl floorpan. It's super taxis or aussie NASCARs, even the days of the GTR was better. But I think we should go back to group C, Formula 5000, early 80's turbvo F1, Porsche 917's at Le Mans and Group B rallying. Lets do the time warp again...

Have had a ongoing hassle with the excite wire for the alternator. Dam cheep Chinese wire keeps breaking near the alternator, usually at night so I have to get around with lights running of the battery. So today I replaced the whole wire with some good quality wire, the wire is the tinned sort. Have recently fitted a dual battery box behind the drivers door. This left a missing bit of pannel from where the old single battery box door used to cover. Made up a bit of panel that fits well. Will now have to weld it in place.

Saturday I went and met Murray (Rijidij) to pick up my bits and peices for my rear wheel carrier. Hopefully very soon I can get it built and gt the spare off the roof.
I'll post pics up when it's done

    Well, not just today :

Took it out, got it dirty and scratched for the first time in it's life

Is also a Mmmmmm! moment. Back to manual GB off-road. Been 14 years! One gets very lazy mit turbo diesel and torque converter. That really is a marriage made in heaven. Never understood why the Yanks can get autos and LRA insists on bringing in only manuals. SVX climbs as well as my old Rangie (two discos ago ) Unfortunately no lumpity lumpity lump.

    Anyway....................

Since then had to pull the BB off to remove the electric winch. Good ol' Ox (Mile Marker) going in, been working well for 14 years, first time its even been cleaned properly. Electric Winch for sale.

BB "DAMN" is a bodged Series unit! (Someone pays $70K+ for an SVX and then bodges a winch bar ) Can't afford an ARB or TJM at the moment so clean up the bodging, repaint and live with it for the time being.

Been waiting to paint now for days. Weather broke, too chill. Snowed all round Canberra today. Brindies are pretty! Southerly makes doing anything else either, not good. Paint Sunday perhaps??

They'll find a way to make it work for their advantage. As opposed to Folden who'd just winge until it was fitted to everyone.
