Replaced the RH rear drive flange on the County - about to lose drive due to wear on the splines. Axle is still serviceable. Also replaced a broken rivet on the bonnet. (The Isuzu, when idling, tends to be literally "rivet-popping"!)

Had a look at Nan's Disco to see how much it is going to take to fix an unexplained backfire.

I ran some 6 B&S cable to the rear for my impending aux battery to be mounted. It is in situ but yet to be attached.
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

Looks like more Fire than Backfire. You've at least got something to spend some spare time on now.

Fortunately, I have a spare Disco (as you do ) that I should be able to get all the bits I need.

Cleaned the 2009 Defender we have just bought because it had gotten a bit dirty on our drive home from Port Macquarie. We gave it a low range run around a paddock at a relatives in Lismore. Also, the vertical windscreen means the bugs really splatter instead of just bouncing off.
Found the tool for unbolting the locknuts on the wheels. Removed the spare off the rear door because it is rattling and put it in the back.
Removed the rear Rhino racks to fit my Rhino flat rack.
Stood near it for a while and reflected on how verrry white and verrry long it is compared with the D1.
Ordered a Mantec rear door carrier and a rear door stay from England, which I think may save me about $200 compared with buying the same items locally, if Paddock's estimate of the shipping cost is correct.
Ordered extended seat runners and rear door extended bolts from the Expedition Centre in Sydney (their website has lots of good gear).
This arvo it goes for a safety certificate so I can transfer the rego. to Queensland.
After that, I'll know better how much money I have left to spend on a cargo barrier and rear drawers.

Got most of the final mock-up completed for my false floor, cargo barrier and fridge bracket install

Just waiting on the fridge mount to be made and then I can pilot drill all the mounting holes, seal and paint the floor (while frame is off at the powder-coaters) and put it all together.

Well, I was getting annoyed that my speedo kept dying in my 95 Classic, so I checked my trusty CD Rom to see where the transducer was locared.. Got under the truck, pulled it out, looked fine, sprayed some contact cleaner and lube in the spinnie bits and put it back together. Whooo hooo. works again!!

    Thanx Matt.

George II passed the safety inspection without hassle. The inspector said it was like new.
Then he told me a long story about how when he was younger he joined a party which drove two Defenders from London through Europe and down Africa to Cape Town. Only problem they had was a gearbox failure in Spain caused by a driver repeatedly crunching the gears. A Spanish workshop fixed the gearbox for 100 pounds in two days. If only those prices still applied.
So, you find Defender tragics everywhere, it seems.
