Took it for a run, barely needed a touch to the idling speed and mixture. What it needs now is a bit of dirt to fit in with the rest of the engine bay!

Yesterday fitted to the 2a the new carburettor that I bought in Camden. Now I have to take it for a long enough run to warm the engine so I can adjust the idling.

Fitted the new thermostat (thanks Mario) to the defender and did a coolant change. Did a grease up at the same time. Mind you it was so hot today that I wasn't sure who was the grease spot!!
Fitted a new muffler to the 110 -last one lasted 15 years. Took about an hour and a half, and, believe it or not, did not have to replace any of the bolts, had no problems undoing any of them. Advantages of using anti-seize compound.
Also tightened the fan belt having diagnosed this as the cause of a flat battery (in conjunction with driving with the headlights on and forgetting to turn the GPS off).

Backed the stop screw off half a turn on the injection pump boost compensator.
How I haven't been booked in the last eight years for the copious clouds of soot the old girl emits on no/low boost I'll never know.
