Set of extractors and new exhaust fitted to the SIII
Done. $270 from Battery World at Cannon Hill for a Varta 800 CCA which appears identical to the original. Incidentally, there are 2 versions of these batteries, which are the same length, but they come in 2 heights, 85 and 95. The Defender needs the 95 for the extra grunt. Fit the 85 and it might struggle.

Installed an aux input adapter to the head unit on the D2 that replaces the CD input so can now play all the music, podcasts and so on on the phone and iPods. Simple plug and play Connects2 unit. Long overdue as no-one in the family uses discs any more and our computers don't even come fitted with them.

Ordered an Ashcroft HD torque converter for my D2a. Very excited.
took off the rear springs, ready to fit the airbags suspension.
gave the chassis and cross member a good clean.
The outriggers and cross member are in great condition, largely I think because they don't collect mud etc for the last ten years. i put inside mudgards on the back years ago, after realizing how much mud etc was collected in there. I have to deal with some surface rust under there, most of the paint is starting to break down after 20 years. ( I want a refund).
I think I'll cold galvanize all accessible areas, and lantotec spray into the area I can't get to. Top coat the cold gal with underbody paint.
some pictures of my inside mudgards at the back , made from folded all' plate about 1 m thick.

I got a bit impatient... i ground and fitted and measured and tacked it in place. Had to put it a bit lower than i wanted, to clear the crank handle. Oh just thought, i hope the steering arms clear the back...bugger, i dont wanna have to cut it off when its all going back together... :banghead::banghead:
Cheers Rod
