Smile service & fuel pump adjust

we went away for a few days to nimbin,to visit the brother, the tweed valley is like the garden of eden.
before departure gave the old girl a pre-trip check,

all good, the TC and rear diff were thirsty , both have leaking seals. everything else underneath was good. Topped up the clutch fliud, I have slow leak there as well. I adjusted the maximum fuel setting screw in 1.5 turns, its made the car so much better. pulling up long hills in 4th or 5 th gear, increased torque is noticeable. I can get to 650 deg c if i hold my foot down hard for a long time on a long hill. I saw 700 once in 4th on a long hill. But generally 600 is the max with rare 650 deg C. high way cruising about 360 to 400 deg C, 13 -15 psi boost. cheers simmo

Cool. Ok, there's plenty of room on the actual fascia, but what did you do behind to make room? I'd like to do the same at some stage.

The only thing back there is a bracket the fascia screws onto. Once you remove that its just one giant open space.

Hmm.. I had mine out a number of years ago to put in an iPod connector. Seem to remember it was tight with wires. Were they all to do with the OEM radio? It's been about five years and the grey matter is struggling...

I found out that my suspension isn't broken or something has seized. The rates are too high as i found out today. It has been a rough ride for awhile and worrying me. I loaded my car up to the brim. Everything fitted inside which was great. And moved house up to Sydney. With all the extra weight the ride was very smooth. So i think i will get a softer set up. As it is rare that i ever carry that much again. And if i do it wont be offroad or on anything rough.

Another plus was the fuel usage. Even fully loaded. It still did 11L per 100km. Which is the same as every other day.

Replaced the rear brake pads on the D2. tried to replace the clutch M/C to reservoir pipe on the 2A ute, discovered the new 1 was 2" too short! "mutter mutter mumble" Checked oils in the Deefer.

Did a deal with a friend who was after a winch bar - swapped my D2 ARB steel winch bar for his ECB alloy non-winch bar. I'm pleased with the result as I'm soon to sell my D2 and the non-winch bar looks a lot neater than the winch bar with no winch.

Replaced bad front hub/bearing assy. Was really one of the easiest repairs I've done in awhile. No dramas!

Modded the defender 90 mud flaps to be 'quick release' without the need for tools.

Discovered why the D2a had a misfire and bad rattle in the top end. Injector 1 is seized in the open position. The Spring is compressed and stuck in that position. Currently have it soaking in a bottle of injector cleaner in the hope it might become unstuck. If not it will be a service or replacement.
