Thread: Starter Motor Replacement on RRC. How difficult?

    Took me under 1/2 hour changing the starter on the ute the other day, lucky it's a '79 with the flip back bonnet and 9/16 hex bolts to the block. Did it from above with a ring spanner.

    no good lads, needed an 8mm allen key socket. only had normal allen keys with me. F***ING spewing! gotta have a look around the garage tomorrow for a set of allen key sockets to take back to the factory and have another crack at it

    make one...

    cut a bit out of the handle of you 8mm allen key then put it into an 8mm socket.

    i was tempted to but i didnt wanna ruin my set. its all good i found one. lucky my dad used to own a tool business and when he closed it everything went into the garage. hard to find things but i know 99% of what i need will be there

    installed today. was an absolute Prik! needed 2 ratchets, 4 extension bars, a t handle, a breaker bar, 2x8mm sockets, a screwdriver, and 3 blokes! phew!! glad that over with. starts like a dream though!!!
