Pull it off (3 allen bolts) and clean it, also you could have a stuffed fuel pressure regulator which sources it's vacuum feed from the IAC valve body, check that there is no fuel in the vac. line from reg. to IAC, yes you actually have to remove the IAC valve to clean it, Regards Frank.

Well it didnt go too well . All voltages as per Lovemyrangies writeup , cleaned up maf with maf cleaner spray trough the little hole .Now it blows smoke and it runs very rich where as before it run ok and no smoke . Did i completely stuffed my maf try to clean it ? Is my ecu stuffed , hence someone set the previous voltages to make it run well but use a lot of petrol ?

This is the procedure I followed cleaning my MAF.

First thing in the morning I removed the MAF from the car. Completely. I did not drive it prior to doing this (did not drive it since the previous day). The MAF needs to be at atmospheric/room temperature (to be on the safe side). Sprayed the MAF in the same direction as the air moves through it. A reasonable amount of coloured fluid came from the MAF during the cleaning process. Reinstated the MAF and let it sit for ~ 2 hours to ensure all the MAF Cleaner residue had evaporated.

You will damage the MAF if you clean it when it is still hot (the wires are still hot)
You will damage the MAF if you spray to close to the wires.

    The wires are very sensitive.

After you have cleaned the MAF the car may idle rough for a short period ~10 seconds while it recalibrates.

    Regards
    Andrew

Probably not. Although it will need to be set up correctly. A variation of 0.1 volts on a MAF is enough to vary between blowing black smoke and a lean stall at idle. And that's not allowing for the quality of your meter.

    Cheers
