I've been doing some research and now have a suspicion that it might be the stepper motor, as the idle is sometimes around 1200rpm at times.

Hey guys i have changed the stepper motor and tps, got them both for $25 from wreckers! and since i have done 500km+ with no problems at all. i didn't expect this to fix the cut outs but it seems that it has! I was just chasing the idle speed problem.
also the coil and module upgrade has made a big difference to how it runs on gas, and now starts first kick on gas when cold.

Good stuff! I did another Bosch ignition conversion on an '83 Rangie (Disco dissy) today, it makes a noticeable difference to the gas's running.

One near the Booster is a diagnostic plug.
The round one near the air filter is AFAIK a plug for adjustable headlights which are an option somewhere.
The third one is probably cruise control .
None of them IMHO have any bearing on the running of the engine.

Filled up today 43 liters of gas 217km, very happy with that!

No need to worry about those plugs then.
Stoked to have it running sweet! All the help is very much appreciated
