    7100 Valving for D90.

    Hi all,

I'm looking at getting some 7100's for my td5 d90, but having trouble deciding on what valving to go.

Vechile runs dual sill tanks, bull bar ( and a full exo cage in the near future.)

I wont be running sway bars but would like to retain 'some' road manners as its a very powerful td5 .

I was thinking 400/100 all round with polly bushes over the heim joints.

If anyone as anything to add or exprence that would be great.

    best regards ben.....

I will be running 14's in the rear and 12's in front if that makes any difference?

Not really knowing the D90, I think you'll find 400/100 to be very very stiff. That rate you'd use on the rear of a Disco2 that runs fully loaded or more with weight behind the axle. 360/80 on the front.

I would have thought that you wouldnt be over 360/80 and even that setup would give you a hell of a lot of control.

As I said, I have nil knowledge of the D90, but I really think 400/100 is way too stiff.

    cheers slunnie,

Sounds like 360/80 is the go, I wont be towing or carrying any loads (not much room in a 90)

FWIW when I looked at this for my 110 I came up with 360/80 rear and 275/78 front. I have not installed them yet so can't give any feedback, but I erred on a softer ride as I'm never in a hurry.

Just to clarify, I'm not making a recommendation at all, but I think particularly at the rear the 360/80s would be very well controlled.

Another question.... how will you make the 7100's fit your setup. Disco2 shocks are all eye to eye with 12mm bolts so buggy shocks are not hard, but I thought the classics such as the D90 were pin to pin and eye to pin and the rear upper eye mount was also big enough to replace the 16mm crush tube in the bush, where the 7100 is a 1/2" or adapted to 12mm rose joint.

Have they changed the new defenders? My 98 110 is pin/pin front and pin/eye rear. The eye being at the top. It is actually 19mm that passes through the shock bush and then is stepped down to 16mm thread for the nut

Thanks Serg, another in my repertoire of errors today. Pin to pin for the front is what I meant.... but said the opposite of.

I understand the Disco2 shock turret will go across with the same mount height, but in standard form the OE shock turrents wont be compatible with the remote canister.

The rear I will be running X-eng raised mounts and pin to eye lower mounts.

Fronts will be spaced and cut d2 turrets or RTE uppers and pin to eye lowers.

I'm after a firm and controlled ride.

Sounds like it will be a really good setup.

If its not too much of a tangent, out of interests sake (well, really I have a chassis and donor car waiting for me) I'd love to hear how you're setting it all up.
    Cheers

I've been running 360/80 Bils under the Cube for the last years and in my experience it's the minimum recommended if you travel on public roads.
Just suits my "light" old beast perfectly, with a truck cab and 0 load in the back (except for the Husky 8000), can't say for a fully loaded SW90.

I "guess" you won't go wrong with 360/80, but maybe you can stretch to 400 and still be comfortable.

    I used DII turrets.
Simply cut the welded nut off, drill the hole to 1/2" and use 1/2" bolts with spacers, and enlarge the top opening so the canister go through.
