Sounds about right. Although he recommended don't do it, he conveniently had a "per rim" price book number to give me. Price book will never be less than a price/weight.

So the place you called can't do centrifugal galvanising???

The guy is probably used to light weight trailer type rims...

As I said before, I spent about 60 seconds per rim cleaning them up with a grinder after Galvanising (dipping). Most of that was where the bead seats. I can tell you how much lead it took to balance them all when I get home... (no more than a painted rim).

It's all good. I think I've mentioned before, I like to change my mind on things a lot. I've decided what I'm doing with my rims at least 3 times now. "Today" I'm going to mod Disco rims to +10 offset then paint them myself. (I have more time now I'm doing a turbo build. )

    +33mm.

Going to +10 means I will have a wider track.

Edit: FYI The old tubed Defender rims (5.5" wide?) are also +33. (At least the 1 I have at home is).

    Disco 1 steelies

How much wider are these than standard rims?

How much wider are optimum for 255?

Disco rims are 7" wide (1.5" wider than 110 rims), which is optimal for 255s.

Not sure I understand the question, however:

Disco standard rims: 16"x7", +33mm offset
Old Defender rims: 16"x5.5", +33mm offset

Not sure what new Defender wheels are...

So the original steel spare in my 93 RRC will be the same as a disco rim?
