    Ashcroft Airlocker Feedback.

Hia folks, looking for some feedback from people who run the Ashcroft airlockers?
Decided to start putting away some money for it and a CDL, and hopefully with some sensible driving and as I'm not running silly tyre sizes I'm hoping I can get away without breaking an axle, but I'll eventually put some HD shafts in.
So anyone with some feedback about them would be tops, going in a D2 Td5 btw.
And no, I'm not buying ARB.
    Cheers

No feedback but why not an ATB or Tru trac LSD?

I've been watching the posts for a while and there is a strong consensus that with traction control a LSD gives almost equalivent ability and is gentler on your axles.

    Cheers

Ashcroft locker.............so far so good (in the front). Probably 40000 k with no problems. Save up for stronger axles and fit them at the same time. There will be heaps of opinions on this, but I always like to play safe.

Hi Steve, the Airlocker is just closer to the type of product i'm interested in, I'm not denying the tru-tracs, etc are tops, I just like being in control
I guess if they're coming out I might as well put HD shafts in but we'll see what it's like at the time with regards to funding.
I don't deny the ARB ones do the job too, but I'd prefer one designed specifically for rovers.
    At least that's my excuse
Keep the feedback coming, any advice is also welcome

IMHO there will be many (most) obstacles which a locker will allow you to negotiate with less shock loading applied to your axles. It comes down to you.

I've had ARB's in the past, and have them at present in Landcruiser and Patrol diffs. And I have experienced problems with them.

Before Ashcroft came out with their alternative, my preferences, for Land Rovers, in order, were McNamarra, Maxi-drive, with ARB last. It has nothing to do with designed for Rovers, but rather better design.

Ashcrofts were aware of the many problems being experienced with ARB lockers, specifically the small engagement of the locking dogs, and especially for Ford 9" diffs. They had engaged in some modifications to improve these for customers.

Their own locker followed from this, and addressed other issues with ARB's such as the design of the actuator and its O-ring seal.

Ashcroft lockers weren't available when I was in the market for a Rover locker. From what I can tell, I would rate their design close to McNamarra, but Ashcroft are easier to deal with.

I'd agree, I think the way you drive has lots to do with it.
