As the FRONT wont be getting the levels of strain as the rear was thinking 30 spline might be the go.

Stock RRC housing(bolt in no sump clearance issues with LSA and max clearance under pumpkin)
    Ashcroft locker (apparently Zero failures)
    Locker broached to 30spline
Hi Tough axles 30-30 and 10 bolt drive flanges
    Cruiser Longfield CV
    Ashcroft R&P Pegged

Does anybody know the axle circumference increase going to cruiser 30spline?
Also what strength increase are we talking going from 24spline ashcroft/hitough gear to 30Spline Ashcroft/Hitough/longfield gear?

Is the increase in strength really worth it?

Have read this is needed for the front, can anyone confirm this for a 93 RRC:

Bore out your front spindles by 4mm (no strength issues)
Bore out the front swivel housings 4mm as well.

Yes, require boring, why not just run Ashcroft CV's and axles? I'm not sure the step up will be worth it, peg the front and see how you go

Front Salisbury would be the go

    Haha..love it

Yeah I guess that is kinda what im asking, what percentage in strength increase would I get etc to gauge if its worth it.

The current plan is as you say for the front, however if I can see that something will give a substantial increase in strength for similar money I might go that way

Have found out via US forum helper (Bush65) that the approx strength increase going to toy 30spline is around 14% so might not be worth the hassle as per Rovercare's coments.

So current plan for FRONT is:

    Ashcroft 24 spline Air Locker
Ashcroft CW&P (With Ashcroft Pegging kit)
    Ashcroft 24spline CV
    Hi Tough 24spline Axles
    Hi Tough 10bolt drive flange.

Stumbled upon a new Kam Locker, anyone heard anything about it

    https://m.facebook.com/kamdiffs/phot...ce=46&refid=17

Half the fitting time of previous model
    No welding required
    Less expensive
    Easy DIY fitment
    No air compressor

Looks like it just drops in now, now housing mods

Have an urgent choice to make between the following for the REAR 35spline Roverhi9 setup:

Option 1. ARB 35spline Diff locker with upgraded spidertrax engagement ring
    Pros, selectable
Cons, engagement and questionable reliability issues, need to stop to activate.

    Or

Option 2. 35spline Detriot auto locker
Pros, minimal maintainence if any, auto locks, no compressor needed, no switch needed, locks anytime, reliable.
Cons, unknown road handling affects, not selectable.

Out of these 2options what would you put in and why? And keep in mind this will be a hard weekend truck and long distance tourer.

Or are there any other selectable or auto 35spline lockers to suit the truhi9 that you would suggest over these?

Spoke to Mike for over 1hr..super nice guy and Founder of the truhi9

ARB 9 locker advice from mike.

Go competition 35spline 9 if you want extreme reliability. RD99CE

RD99 are reliable if you understand them and use as per truhi9 instructions

ARB improved engagement in 2009 after issue was raised in 2008

Dave ashcroft with the help of truhi9 improved engagement before ARB did.

Activate locker before obsticle allow a few rotations of tyre to ensure full engagement. This will make sure you dont damage engagement ring

Use only Swepco USA oil, hypoid diff oil (molly 203, 250 weight

Dont let diff oil get hotter than engine water temp.

Suggested getting an infared gun for testing if using in high temp environments.

    Running in
    500mile run in
    300miles change oil

Auto lockers are very reliable and better suited to a mainly offroad rig

    Yukon grizzly better than detroit

Soft lockers better for on/offroad rig

For me I will be going ARB 35spline in the rear, whether its competition version or not im not sure yet.

Back on the 30 splines... I have found that rover manufacturing tolerances are so poor that some spindles haven't needed boring.

We ordered a truhi9 with the competition spec 35spline ARB RD99CE

    So rear will be:

    LRA Rover9 housing
    TruHi9 Diff
    ARB RD99CE Selectable locker
    35spline Hi Tough Axles
Arnolds Hubs and Spindles to suit 35spline
10 Bolt Hi Tough Drive Flanges

This will all be put together by Les Richmond Automotive, LRA

End result is a bulletproof rearend, propshaft is up out of harms way and we only loose 15mm clearance over a stock rover (not sals) housing, giving maximum pumpkin clearance with 35's
