Tru9's look a bit hardcore for non comp applications, looks like u cant run standard 9 gears or even unmodified lockers? Agree Sals are the cheapest bolt in upgrade from ashcroft 24spline gear, but cheapest is not always best.

The best advise I could offer would be to go with the Salisbury. Even with after market axles with enough torque traction and enthusiasm you will still break axles. You will with the ford as well but not quite as often BTW HP does`nt break
them As for my 9" all parts were sourced on ebay all work done in house apart from heat treatment CVs were Ashcroft 23 spline Sorry cant help with anyone who does these mods and no Ford product will bolt in without extensive work

What brand aluminum 3rd did you use, can u get it in high pinion? and why did you decide low pinion in the rear?

It all comes down to how much coin people wanna spend. Factor in 2 custom made and balanced drive shafts as well. They don't come cheap.

Do anyone know of a company that builds a lightweight aluminum high pinion 9" 3rd members?
There is more than one military, and there has been more than one contract ;-)

Are there any good lockers available for the ford 9" other than ARB and Detroit?

I'll put another one out there and wash my mouth out afterwards.

Toyota G series 8", had 800+ through one stock, available with a variety of factory and A/m LSD & lockers. Know another guy who ran 1000+ and 1500+nm through one and the only issue was bearings until I showed him pegging.

Housings were fitted to a huge variety of cars and trucks so different track widths are available.

In mid to late 90s Jac Mac made an aluminium 3rd, hypoid, locking centre to bolt into a rover housing.
IIRC it used a Toyota gear set.

It may well be the design he sold to TJM

And don't forget Solid here in Australia make/made a high pinion D60 based centre that would be equivalent or close to a Rover housing in drop from the axle centreline.
    Maybe even better ?

It would make a bullet proof front end using Sals tubes.
