Electronic ignition kit, or different distributor ?
I've been eyeing off an electronic ignition kit from petronics to replace the points in my distributor recently. The price for the kit is about $280 which isn't too bad, and the way it is built it is pretty waterproof which I hear can be the unsticking of these kits.
However as it is a holden motor (and probably should be running a distributor without points) am I better looking for a 2nd hand or new distributor from a later model which has no points, or would the electronic ign kit work better??
Also, if there is little difference in performance, and it is cheaper to get a new distributor, you know what i'll be getting
FYI it is a Holden red, 173 cui, engine prefix is VD which I understand means it is from a VB commodore (last of the red engines before the blue engine).
