Those inboard iscs wouldn't last five minutes off-road, imagine rock crawling with all that bulk in the centre and you can't beat live axles for off-road work, expensive toy, Regards Frank.

My pennies worth, I had a bx years back and it nearly killed me as the pump belt broke on my way to work and it lost pressure in the system = no brakes I was grateful for the pathetic hand brake on the front wheels to slow me before I mounted the roundabout I was coming up to By a cruel twist I ended up working for a citroen specialist years later and got the hang of spannering them, the later xantias were much better designed and all the customers raved how comfy they were.

I'm a little surprised, although I'm not familiar with the BX, as I ran Ds for years - they have a hydraulic accumulator that gives you many brake applications after the 5cm red "Stop" light on the dash comes on.

The new ones are just glorified Peugeot's, so the brakes are separate to the hydraulics now.
