Vaccuum Advance for RR 3.9 - recon ?

I think it was someone here (adm333?) that mentioned a place in Brisbane (woolloongabba perhaps) that sells vaccuum advances on a changeover basis.

    Anyone provide any details ?
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

Looks as if it needs a special tool of some sort...

Yes it can - you need a torx bit. I can't rember if its t10 or t15 and use a suitable spanner to turn it. I sticky taped the bit to the spanner as I kept dropping the torx bit

The tricky part is getting the vac arm to drop over the pin inside the dist ( not that hard ) just feel around and make sure the arm is attached before bolting inplace.

If your running short of time just pay the $30 deposit and return the crook one later for your money back.

Also - dont forget to get your timing checked as it was probably set by the PO to be OK without the vac advance ( unless it only just died ) and will be way out with a working vac unit.

OK you are speaking gibberish to be when you say torx bit. What are they, where do you get them? how much and when u say a suitable spanner I hope you just mean a normal spanner of a suitable size ?

Maybe it would be easier to get one, pay the deposit, get MR to fit it and return the thing (its due for a service anywa) and then take the old one back for teh deposit.

http://www.wihatools.com/701serie.htm and by spanner I just mean a very small shifter.

You'll learn more by doing it yourself, but it would be easier for MR to do it while they're in there 8)

The guy at Carb n Gas will do it all for you including check and adjust the timing.

You will need to book a time though, I gather he is quite busy.

Dropped in to see them today - they don;t have any exchange units available as people haven;t retruned any for the deposit for ages.

Best he could do was recondition mine - 2 day turnaround minimum (during which time I presume the Rangie would be undrivable?)

Inc: That fella you mention do exchange units :?:
