When 300tdis were first released, it was quite common practise that the owners needed someone to walk on foot ahead of them with a red flag, then a simple twist of the injector pump made the flag carrier redundant.

I just want to try and get a little extra out of it, or at least make sure that it's running as best it can...plus I'm not sure about the extra fuel that the last guys put into the injector pump, they just opened the main screw slightly (real tiny amount) but didn't touch the inside of the injector pump itself, so part of me just wants an expert to have a go at it.

Are there even any real experts left who want to do this? Or are the experts us now with all the documents and videos and stories of past experiences that we have at our disposal? I'm pretty sure the guys I asked just didn't want the job.

yes the injector pump only..

This will only reduce the fuelling therefore reducing power. To increase fuel the lock tab has to be removed allowing the screw to be turned clockwise in.

I'm taking that to mean they opened up a little more fuelling, rather than the literal unscrewed the main fuel screw

Any dyno place should be able to do the tune....yes they will be a little surprised that boost is already running at 14 ish psi as they normally on see other makes. Just tell them max. PSI and Exhaust temp and they should tweak to suit.

I first took mine to a Land Rover indie.......good performance increase and fuel economy but it was a lack smoke screen behind the car.

I than took it to a dyno shop (I had worked the owners I put previous jobs), he did three run up from memory, made adjustment on the first two and the third was to confirm. He also uses an analyzer in the exhaust.

It was a few hundred dollars from memory.....wish I went to him first. Pretty sure at least one member on here has used him as well....although doesn’t help you being in Melbourne.

Sorry I've written that wrong...the lock tab was already removed from a previous pump tweak (who knows how long ago that was) and the recent guy wound the main fuel screw clockwise a tiny bit to increase fuel.

This is probably a good thing to do. Les Richmond said the dyno component would cost about $500, so that sounds like it's in the ball park plus they should know the cars well enough, regardless of whether they can still be bothered with the old ones or not, surely a dyno tune wouldn't be too horrible a job for them.

Other than them, where else does one take a 300Tdi for a dyno tune around Melbourne??? Any old place with a dyno? Or is it worth finding a rover place with a dyno?
