Increased power TD5's - what have you done to solve the MAF issues?

Not quiet the inlet manifold but hopefully close enough as it saved me having to drill into anything:

One way for the boost gauge and one for the turbo.

Does plumbing the wastegate actuator to the inlet manifold/EGR replacement result in a noticeable difference in responsiveness and are there any potential problems? - read on some other turbo vehicle sites that it can result in surging? I assume with this approach that anything to do with the turbo boost modulator is just removed/plugged.

Also, is there much advantage in getting an aftermarket wastegate actuator or are the OEM ones fine as long as they're working properly?

Just to be clear mate we are talking talking about a standard turbo in this setup or the pictures above. So what you are seeing and reading above won't apply to a stock setup.
There are plenty of threads already about adjusting the standard turbo's wastegate I'll let you do a site search or Google search for them and you will find everything you need and could want to know about it.
Some of the information in this thread will give you an idea on resolving any surging issues due to MAP/MAF that may arise but it's a case by case issue.

Thanks...I've adjusted wastegate to optimal and don't have a surging issue currently. Was just wondering if there are any gains to be had by plumbing actuator to inlet manifold as well as replacing the stock actuator. I have TRS ECU upgrade and larger intercooler but turbo is stock.

Nope. It’s for VNT upgrades only.

You could plumb from inlet to WGM but that’s all I’d be doing with the stock set up.

Sorry Paul, I can't really say. I certainly didn't notice any negatives. The car was off the road for a fortnight or so while I did it due to a damaged injector wiring loom plug and I drove a D1 V8 in that time so wasn't a back to back comparison. On top of that I'm still having issues with mine particularly in the mid to higher RPM at highway speed so difficult to compare what's what when the tune doesn't seem to be spot on at the moment. Logically it makes sense that it should be beneficial, it was cheap and easy to achieve so why not even if it's just a 1%er type thing.
