Yup, the extreme is no longer sold here, which is a pity really as I liked that specification. So no colour coded roof or bull bar, but the engine, traction control etc are all the same still
The extreme was only an australian specification anyway.
Hey guys/gals was just wondering what are your opinions on the defender TD5 extreme? I just spoke to Southern Landrover and apparently they no longer come with bullbar etc! Plus I am looking at purchasing brandnew!
SCott
PS how much should I pay?

G'day Scott,
I bought a new Defender in December last year, Yep it's not an extreme as it did not come with the bull bar or decals etc, We love it, just completed a trip to te Kimberley (13000km) with only a couple of minor issue
bolt on heat shield came out,
Bolt on bonnet came out and the mirrors were loose.
Other than that cannot complain. We have put quite a few additions to the car and after having a 300TDi I quite like this car. It is a little heavy on the fuel but lots more torque. If you want any more info send me a PM.
Hi Scott.
If there's any LR country dealers left try them for price quotes. When I bought mine I got it through the dealer in Esperance at a price around 6 grand less than the Main Stealer wanted which is probably why LR are closing the country centres down to satisfy them.
We've been through the Kimberley in ours, towed a van for many kays and it performs really well, much better than our 300Tdi Discovery did.
But what concerns me is the lack of back up when something goes wrong in the bush, which did with ours not long ago.
Nearest LR Dealer to Newman is Karratha and the hassle we had getting it back to Perth was terrible and took 3 weeks.
Mostly caused by the hauliers because we had a camper on the back, but they also wanted us to junk the fridge (1500 bucks) and anything else "not a standard" fitting or considered by them to be "personal" items.
It's really put me off and I'm not sure if I'll trust it again.

I bought mine in April - dealer told me they deleted the Extreme as they had too many complaints/requests to remove the decals !! I love mine & have also customised extensively. You can try negotiating a lower price on a TD5 given the release of the 'new' 07 model, but as demand outstrips supply you probbaly won't get much. Gav
I forgot to add that although I bought mine though the dealer at Esperance, it came out of the yard in Welshpool/Kewdale and they had quite a lot awaiting new owners at that time.
I don't think that dealer exists any longer though due to LRA rationalisation!!!

So what would I be looking at paying for an 06 Defender with bullbar, snorkel, sidesteps and long range fuel tank (127litres) also regarding fuel economy I was told that they were/are great on fuel ie 1500km's on 127ltr's? Is this true?Originally Posted by jake

Hi Scott.
How much do they want for the Extreme they're now selling without the bar and sidesteps? Talk them down to what they say is their bottom price then add up what ARB want for the goodies.
Snorkle around $350 plus bar plus anything else you want.
See Russel at ARB Osbourne Park and he may not rip you off too much!! Or Stewart at Rovacraft may be able to supply the same things.

Probably a little optomistic, around the 10L to 11L per 100km is what most seem to get from themOriginally Posted by muzza22au

Not sure where you are located Muzza, but there is one sitting around at Port Melbourne LR in Melbourne, 2004 Xtreme, with 4600k's on the clock.
It's not cheap, but than again, they tend not to Depreciate much either....
Take a look here; www.mlr.com.au
Do a search in the pre owned section on the website, under Land Rover/Defender......
Got mine as a 1 yo Demonstrator, had 10k on the clock, saved about $10k off new price, got my GST back off it as it fell in nicely under a Trade Vehicle category,(with an ABN) so all up just under $40k final price, for a practically new Truck....
It comes down to personal choice, very happy with mine, apart from a few loose bolts, almost 3 years into it, still VERY happy with the vehicle.....
good luck..................
