    Ahh! I see your point.

I've also done work on my P38A which was mainly serviced by New Rowley Motors in its early life. It's surprising how many bits of plastic have been broken by mechanics getting access rather than doing the job the right way.

Okay, changed the hinge today and as I was aprehensive about removing the last bolt completely, i simply screwed in one of the already removed bolts to locate the plate before removing the last.....simple really. And would you believe it I got the door lined up first time First time I tried with the old hinge (when I gave up) I had to remove the 2 bolts on the door to get to the ones on the A piller so I could adjust the angle.

Anyway, all fitted nice although the reason for fitting the new one was I suspected this was where my rattle came from......rattle still there

Remove the door trim & have someone hold the check strap while you drive the car. This sometimes becomes loose & can rattle.

Excuse my ignorance, but what is the check strap? I definitely think it is in the door though. WIll check this when I get the chance.

    Cheers, Mick
