    Rock Sliders

    Hi,

I am interested in either buying or making some Rock Sliders for my series 2 Disco.

Not sure what to buy can others advise?

I saw a picture of ARB ones in their latest catologue yesterday which were a Rock Slider/Step. Has any one had any experience with these?

    regardsPiddler

Check out the design of the rock/tree sliders at Scorpion Racing. Rovacraft is their Australian distributor. I haven't seen the latest ARB catelogue so I can't comment on their sliders. The side steps they make for the D2 are too level with the floor pan for my liking but are good and solid.

I have a set made for my D2 by Rangeneering - simple design, which includes gully protector and they are the business I have rested the car on it's side many times and they have been there to save the day.
I don't get anything for endorsing them I just think they are bloody good and the best value I have seen to date from all my research. His name is Justin and his no is 0414901799

    Good luck

Can someone explain to me the difference between rock sliders and tree sliders to me they both look like they would do the same job?

    Sorry for the slight high-jack.

Rock slider will protect car/sill from damage directly underneath the car. Tree sliders generally extend out side ways from the main slider and help fend of objects to the side of the car. Most "sliders" feature a tree protector element to them which also doubles as a step and jacking point.

Mine have the box section main slider running the full length of the sill giving maximum protection and also have tubular steel bar comnig off the side which extends to just past the edge of my wheels if you look down the length of the car. This is enough to rest against trees/rocks etc when on side slopes etc. If you are going as far as getting sliders made I would highly recomend incorporating this tree fender as well....like I said, makes a great step and jacking poiunt if designed correctly.

I went to ARB yesterday to look into this for my DiscoII. Found out that as I have the II.5 Series (later model) with the rear air suspension, the ARB side steps don't fit as the wizardry for the rear suspension gets in the way.

I haven't looked much further yet, but might hi-jack this thread to see if anyone has put sidesteps on the later model DiscoII?

    Hi all ,

Looking for some sill guard / step for my DII as well . Notice that most are sill mounted rather than chasis mounted . Is the one from Scorpion Racing chasis mounted ? What about others like Mantec's or Southdown's ?

Any pro & con on either mounting methods ? I suppose ideally it should be mounted on the chasis and sill together .
