    Remaining electrical gremlins isuzu 110

I still have to sort the following things before the rego inspection:

Windscreen washer (no power getting to washer motor)
Interior fan (no power getting to fan) - are they likely to check this???
Horn (assume no power getting to horn - only worked intermittently from when I bought vehicle).

Anyone had the same problems before and can suggest likely sources to check before I pull the column and dash apart to trace the wires???

When I tried to get a safety cert to sell my SIII a few years back they failed it because I had no windscreen demister. When I said I doubt it ever had one from the factory they let it go.

If you have a heater/fan/demister fitted that doesn't work, it may be a sticking point. Then again, I'm sure the guy I got in Coorparoo was a stickler.

I assume you have checked the all the fuses first.

On the horn, there was a post in this forum some while back where a chap made up a nifty brass thingy to replace the worn out/faulty/cr*p one that was there.

Do a search you may find it.

Thanks for the ideas guys. I have checked the fuses, but the PO has swapped a lot of the fuses around for some unknown reason, so it is difficult to track what is what. The horn I suspect is the switch - on the indicator stalk (unlike the disco)) - so hopefully just a bad connection.

    looking that way isn't it.

But the heater blower is a different animal, sorry I don't have wiring diagrams here for the 110, so I am a bit stuffed.

You should be able to get access to the switch though, and just put a meter on it to see if you have power before and after (if in the on position)

With other LR I have noticed there have been a few fan speed problems - ie doesn't work on any speed but max, this is where the resistor pack is faulty..........but as I say I don't have the wiring diagrams

Since 1972 the ADR's require vehicles to have a demister. The performance standard can not be met without heat, so to be legal from 1972 models on you must have a working heater/demister. Qld. Transport inspectors get quite stroppy when they find the heater hoses removed. Many people do this when the heater radiator core springs a leak and they find that the little heater core costs as much or more than a new radiator. Defect notice and maybe a fine as well.

Ok horn fixed - was a dodgy relay for the aftermarket horn, hidden away in the depths of the guard (bastard PO!!!).

Still can't get power to the washer motor. The switch (on the stalk) works fine and so on into the dash, but no power when it comes out the other side. The manual says there should only be one combined fuse for (front) wipers and washer (which is fine) - is this right??? I am on the verge of just running a new wire for this as I have the dash half apart and still can't trace the wire.

OK, now the last (and worst) one - fan/blower. Again the switch has power, but I have tried bypassing the switch and still nothing. Anyone know how I can test the fan itself directly, as finding out what goes where with the county air-con/fan system is a nightmare...
