    Hi,

Version #1 of my 74 RRC had no leveller when I got it, just HD Pedders springs. The local RR owners commented that it sat more level on the road and was a bit firmer than their stock set ups. I quite liked the lessened body roll on road from others I had driven.

Version #2 has the load leveller with the same springs (2" lift). Tried slighty softer springs at first but was no good. Leveller does nothing until it is stacked with camping gear, then it does seem to maintain ride height. Does go down overnight when loaded then pumps back up after going over a few bumps the next day.

IMHO if you take it out and fit heavier springs it will handle more like a normal car on the road, you will lose some articulation and you may lose some ride height when laden. I'm leaving mine in.

    Really whatever floats your boat.

    cheers, DL

I would certainly not want less flex as that is what makes it so good off-road. I have no idea of what springs are fitted to it but one day I will change them.
I have no issues with body roll so perhaps someone has removed the load leveler and installed HD springs.

I've seen a post on a pommy website where someone replaced the LL with a spring arrangement from some sort of Mazda. I'll see if I can find it for you. An airbag as a replacement would be the ultimate for your application.

    cheers, DL
