Iffen it's a howlin' then you have two options: get used to it or get ready to replace bits.

(Can I be as sheepish as to ask whether it has oil in it this time?)

I know shoot me. I'm a bad person.

I put about 1/2 a cup of Molybdenum Disulphide grease into a baulky/hard to sift into and out of Diff Lock in Hi and Lo.....it fixed the problem very well. You could try some to see if it helps the noise - it certainely won't harm it any!

BTW - didn't your TX Case overheat warning light go on when the box failed? .....if NOT make sure it's fully functional so that you don't have any future problems with it, or at least get some warning!

Keh?? that thing was as quite as a mouse, its only sat four about 4 months unused, i drove the wreck back from mornington then drove it for another week??and it was faultless, let me know what you find, full money back if its ****ed, the oil was spotless, even i was suprised to see how clean it was, which input gear did you use? got oil? fitted up well? didn't lever it in? I'm worried now

It fitted up well to the longer splined input shaft off the zf, but the seems to be a leak from around the main seal. Sould i have used gaxsket sealer there?
Should i have used the older short splined shaft?

Just to add to the fustration the starter motor isn't working as it should. The thrust pinion isn't coming out enough and is only half engaging the flywheel. What should i do???

I'm a little hesitant to how you've assembled it(No offence), and stick by my word of money back, it came of the back of a ZF, so the shafts and everything that was in that transfer should have been reused, as the gears wear into each other, kinda like a matched set but not, which main seal is it leaking from??

    You and me both!!!
Its leaking from the main seal where the input shaft goes in.
Do you think i should pull it out and swap the input shafts???
