If its any consolation I get my Disco Td5 done at 12 months as I'm not doing a lot of hard work and I only do about 9,000km p.a. (It's almost to 4 years of age and almost to 34,000km on the clock.)

On an annual service I get the centrifuge filter changed, fuel filter changed and air filter if needed. In the 2nd year I got a new "paper" oil filter. I have the oil done every 12 months but monitor it through the year as the car is driven in very hot conditions. I also had the transmission fluid done at 3 years.

    Yep the intervals are
    oil every 20,000km/12months
    Centrifuge 20,000km/12months
    Paper Filter 60,000km/?
I would be not happy with them over the Centrifuge not being done.
If you do it yourself the filters arn't that hard to do.

Except for the paper oil filter, I reckon its 60,000km between changes because it takes that long to work out how to get a grip on it.

Graeme Coopers say for engine life change the filter and oil every 10,000k.

When I used to get my TD5 serviced with Landrover even the service manager said it would be better to change the filter and oil every 10,000k.

When we bought our TD5 Defender last year (May), were informed by the Stealer that services in Aust. are done at 10000 Klm's. Ours was serviced by M.R. in Redcliffe at 10000 and oils and filters changed. I understand 20000 services are the norm in Europe as they are not subjected to the same stresses as here, (apart from the cold of course).

Have always had the oil filter (Centrifugal) changed every 20K with oil, unless Hot / Towing, then ' as required'.

The stealer changed all filters at 12 months.

At a first service we would change the centrifugal filter along with the engine oil. Air filter would be checked and replaced if required. All driveline oils checked and replaced if required. We did a 110 yesterday, 10 000km service and it got the front and rear diff oils replaced as well as the engine oil and centrifuge.

We replace the spin on oil filter (fitted near the turbo in an akward spot) every 40 000km. Manual transmission oil every 20 000km. Transfer and diff oils every 40 000km. Fuel filter every 40 000km. Air filter as required. Engine oil and centrifuge every 10 000km. 20 000km service intervals are ridiculous, especially in this part of the world.

    Hope this helps.

As Big Jon says, but we do both filters, every 10,000km.
I have seen cam wear in these engines from 20,000km interval servicing, even with Mobil 1 synthetic etc.( Dealer serviced from new.)
Filters are cheap enough to do all at the oil change interval.
The Pain is that Tdi's cost almost 50% less to service than the Td5, 1 filter and mineral oils...
