It's been a while since I logged in but have been busy with the new business down in Tassie.

I've got a TD5 Defender extreme 2000 model and on Sunday she packed it in and wouldn't start.

She wound over but wouldn't fire. Checked the fuel pump and found heaps of fuel going to the motor but no bang.

Ended up getting towed into Launceston on the Monday morning and droppped of at the Local Landy dealership.

Upshot - main wiring loom harness and another minor one has had oil leek back up the harness and stuff it. I know this is a known fault because I've already had one replaced during the recall under warranty.

The issue is this work is going to set me back about $2.5k. They're quoting aroind $1600 for the main loom, couple of hundred for the other and around $600 in Labour.

Has anyone had any joy getting some love out of Land Rover for this problem after warranty has expired - or do I have to bend over and take it?

Also is there an aftermarket product or better product that should go in to ensure it doesn't happen again.

Brett i think the dealer you are having work done by are taking advantage of you, this should only be a $800 fix at the most if replacing both sections of harness and this includes Labour, how do i know, well that's how much we were quoted, but the repairer said we should only need to do the section to the ECU, because that's where the main problem is.

I'd be seriously going elsewhere, also checkout a parts supplier like Karcraft and other Landy repairers, dearlers are just money pits and don't care what they charge you.

I'm sure there are guys on this forum that are in Tassie that could help.

$1600 for the loom is outright robbery and i'd get another quote
