Hi Pete and welcome aboard.
The earlier D3s had a problem with their compressors which are changed under warranty as needed.
Beyond that, I’m not aware of any other on going problems.
Cheers.
Hi Folks,
hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Year!
We have finally decided the old 3.0L Surf needed to be retired after 6 years of faithful service.
We have narrowed our choice of replacement to the Landrover Discovery 3 in SE TDV6 format.
We were wondering if there are any known significant problems? Or maybe just annoying niggles that the dealers can sort. Forwarned is forarmed.
Any must have options both factory or after market worth considering?
diesel chip for the ECU for example?
Thanks for your time.
cheers
Peter

Peter, there's SFA problems with the Nav system. I've got premium SatNAv and in 72000km haven't had a whiff of a problem. There's only one or two who've reported problems out of thousands.
As far as I'm aware, there are no problems that cannot be fixed quickly by a dealer and under warranty.
Disclaimer: This assumes the dealer in question actually knows what he's doing! (No offence intended to any LR workers on this forum)
Actually I've noticed a number of times "software problems" has been mentioned on the UK and European forums. Most of these "software problems" need the vehicle to be plugged in to a diganostic unit and have fault codes reset.
What none of them have said, that I have found, is what exactly the "software problems" are![]()

Well I'm a regular on www.disco3.co.uk and compared to the number of vehicles on that forum, the number of software issues is minimal.
Where ther has been a need for software to upgarded, the exact issue has been indicated in the thread. Can you elucidate and provide links to theses numerous faults with no problem of which you mention??
Everyone needs the odd fault cleared at service (very few of which will stop the car and some of which the driver is even aware of). Having to visit the dealer the have fault code resets for non-continuing problems is a TD5 thang, not a D3 thang!
