Congratulations!

Given she's pulling to the left, watch the tyre wear. If they're wearing more on the inside edges then there's two TSB's (Technical Service Bulletins) that cover this under warranty.

The voice command lady is ver very fickle! Sometimes she'll listen and other times 'computer says no'.


Like Stevo said, the car is 'intelligent' in that is adapts to your driving style. If you want quicker response, just put the foot down sharply a couple of times before hand and that will let the ecu know you want more power on tap. If that's not enough drop her into 'sand' mode for a short burst.

Lastly, remember the golden rule: If she goes into 'limp home' mode unexpectedly and tells you you can't have certain systems, re-boot. That may involve simply switching off and on again, or it may involve removing the key, getting out, locking the doors and waiting two minutes (or until the clock disappears from the radio display).


Oh, and if you need to change a tyre, leave a door open. Otherwise she thinks she's stuck when you start jacking and raises herself into extended mode!

The vehicle in terms of take off, if you drive it gently it responds as such ( someone else will know correct terminology) if you drive it with plenty of boot, it will again respond accordingly,ie it senses or gets used to how you drive it, so in other words normal. Trailer socket is at rear behind the cover dead centre. You will see a couple of "screws" that you can turn with a coin and off pops the cover to show trailer points ( pic below, click for full size and look at middle of bumper) plus rear recovery point. I just drive with mine off. Voice activation can take a while to get used to your voice, personally I dont really use it, just easier to do myself but a fun gimmick to start with. thanks for that mate, much appreciated. I did see that access panel and was going to have a looky in fact. Will get into there tomorrow and see what socket thay gave us. Trailer has large Utilux 7 pin plug so might have to make a rat tail up.

I have been driving it quite sedately so far with only a couple of "bootfuls" given so that might exaplain it. Though what I'm expereincing seems like adead spot with no response for a sec then it kicks off, like a very extended turbo lag.

Will keep playing with the Voice rec. Say does it have a command like "Navigation -launch missle at camry hogging fast lane" hehe

You have same colour as ours, black with ebony interior and we have dark tint on the windows. It is avery cool looking vehicle and so much nicer to drive then the old Toyota Surf.

thanks for all that advice especially the jacking bit. Wonder it does not set off the alarm. I will certainly also take note about the reset stuff as well.
Used to work with a bloke called jamop in my RAAF days! He was a likely lad.

ps sand mode sounds like fun

Hi Peter, it takes at least 100,000kms to run a diesel in so don’t worry about that.

Once you have driven it for a while, give it a bit of a flogging at a few sets of traffic lights and it will change the acceleration patens.

Most of the Landies have learn functions now so if you drive sedately all the time, it will react that way but give it a bit of stick and after just a few minutes of driving that way, the accelerator reactions will change ( and so will your fuel consumption ).

Just give it some time.

thanks for that, I quite like the fuel consumption at the moment and the wife gives quite a look if I go into hoon mode

Now just need to sell the old Surf! Got it listed on ebay motors so we will if that has any luck, if not the old trading post might get an add.

just read that bit so will make sure I point it out to the dealer tomorrow when I ring them about the things to be sorted out.

No worries, and yes seems we have in common an ire against camry drivers, everytime Im out driving I say at least once "bloody camry drivers". I must admit I concur on the Java Black and Ebony interior, sure mine has nice pinstriping down the sides from going offroad, but a bit of spit and polish and grrrr, black beauty arises again. Of course there is nothing wrong with other coloured D3's, it just happens to look best in black .

Good tip, didnt realise that and will have to remember that as I have noticed that when I have had to jack it up and when it is raised down it is in extended. Pity cant put it into extended straight away

camrys, older fords and old model magnas seem to all have the bowls hat permantly located in them.

Some people refuse to move over, sit back patiently waiting for them to be courteous. Round the inside, they still sit there oblivious to the mahem they cause.

Coming back from Sunshine Coast a while back there was a tool in this 5 series BMW who refused to move out of the fast lane, he sat at about 105 in the 110 zone , obviously with the cruise control set and was not going to move for anyone. I watched this guy from North of Maroochy turn off till past Caboolture Turn off, eventually a few got past him on the inside and gave him a real spray.

Well the D3 has now been towing and off road. Trip to the tip with the trailer full of clippings so now it is lovely and dusty just to annoy the wife!

Did vacuum the floor mat though as the dust from the tip was disgusting.

Taking it up to the dealer Thurs to sort out the little issues, should all be good.
