    Hi Inc,

    Take a look at
    http://www.aulro.com/afvb/showthread...287#post509287

If you skip to the last page it has a stack of photos to show you what a good nic one looks like. I finally pulled my down again and actually managed to get it out this time.

after my first visit to MR (nearly two years ago) they suggested i should check my main shaft

well i pulled the plate this afternoon all is good, i didn't pull the gear out and could not see any holes drilled except one little threaded hole

at 220K on the clock i have either a modified one or its been overhauled already

while the rig was over the service pit i dropped the gearbox and t-case oil, t-case oil was in perfect nic well colour wise however the gearbox looked a bit grotty

MR have helped me sort it as best as my finances will cope, thanks fellas, much appreciated...

recoed gearbox, new transfer gear, new clutch and pressure plate, and comes in just on my budget so i am happy for harry weave his magic... i really dont have time to pull a gearbox myself and it would end up costing me more than i would save.. just have to take the transfer out again in a few months and get the bush fitted so the intermediate shaft seals again...

it is defintely worse to drive with the crud cleaned out... it looked fine till harry started to remove the transfer gear, then it went to crap... so you need to do more than look it appears...

Now I finally got round and replaced the batteries in the camera, dug up the failed main shaft and took a photograph. May heaven, or the Lord of Darkness and all his associates, prevent you all from having one of these:

Do you see the chewed splines???
