I remember reading about a Disco on a comparison test in a 4wd magazine. They mentioned two problems with the Disco. One was the headlights falling out and the other that the hazard lights would come on by themselves.
They must have been giving it a flogging

Don't know if it was a D1 or D2 though.

It's the inersia switch, if it isn't mounted solid then it will activate, i've had this problem, it started happening to me when i installed my dual battery, i moved the switch so i could fit the tray and cable tied it to the ABS modular, it used to activate when i hit even a mild bump, check it's tight and not loose.

As soon as i remounted it to the firewall again as tight as i could get it, the problem stopped.

Also check it for dirt and corrosion it may be playing up because of that.

thanks for all the advice, it went into the dealer and they eventually decided that the inertia switch was faulty it was replaced and now all seems good again
