Not meaning to sound like a smart-**** Keith, but the explanation of the inertia switch and how to reset it is in the driver's handbook.

The same thing has happened to me in my Disco 1,

Normally you have to hit something pretty hard to set them off.

Check out this thread - sounds a lot like the problem I was having in my Defender last year.

    http://www.aulro.com/afvb/showthread...light=solmanic

Turned out to be the main lead from the battery to the fuse box was dodgy - this was playing hell with the immobiliser/alarm/everything when it kept cutting in and out.

If only I were going fast I would expect these things and except the fact that I was going to fast and maybe slow down, but 80km\h on a bitumen road is just silly

Having soft non-bullbar springs, with the bullbar fitted and hitting a washout at speed will also set the hazards off.

Or letting a Datto driver drive.

I found that I had to turn off the car lock it with the key, unlock, then restart, problem solved

You're certainly not alone, it would seem.
Had the same thing happen to me with a rather LARGE bump up the Cape a few years ago in the Fender. ..
Same deal .. stop, turn off. Then all is well.

    Cheers
