    One sided air conditioning

In my 1998 S1 Disco, the airconditioning works better (colder) on the passenger side vents than on the driver's side.

As a guess, I am thinking it might be the driver's side heater control not fully shutting the heater tap.

Does anyone have any experience with this and how to fix it.

    Thanks.

    Air Con

Spoke to the auto electrician who recently recharged the system and he told me it was because overseas the driver would be on the LHS of the vehicle (huh?). I told him it was a british car and possibly he may be wrong so he changed his reasoning to say that the a/c unit was located on the passenger side hence the air was colder there.

I guess he missed out on getting into Rocket Science.

disco's don't have a tap afaik. they just have a flap on the heater box. if you open the access panel below the column you can see it through there

Yes it will be more likely a badly fitting 'flap' that is causing the problem - stretched or loose control cable, the insulation may have broken off the flap and could be fouling it - stopping it from closing.

The heater tap (on the very few models it was fitted to) would affect both sides

Check the operation of the cables first - as that is the easy bit

I have the same problem with my DI

when I was last in Adelaide I made a point of goint to triumph landy spares so I could look at pulled apart ones.

evap coil is on the passengers side and the hoses going to the air vents aren't the best. Also they can fall off the back of the vent as well so that would be the first thing I would check

    Cheers Blythe

haha there is no "easy" way, turn upside down so that your head is where your feet go or lay half in and half out get a torch and it's half looking half feeling to see if it is loose or not - obviously if you can move it freely then it is definetly off

    good luck with it
