Like Garry say's, it sounds like the turbo.

Captainrightfoot, switching off DSC does NOT turn off the TR system. Indeed, the DSC button doesn't actually switch DSC off completely anyway.

Peter, your dealer needs a rocket. Tell them to do their job. I've had no problem from LR, they've addressed every warranty issue I've had, but it's taken me some rather strong talking with the dealers I've been to in WA to get them to respond. The software reload is one of their favourites. One of them even tried to tell me that if the computer showed no errors then there was nothing wrong, even for bit's not monitored by the computer.

    I'd go to another dealer.

    just OOC...

    have they checked

the throttle position sensor, if its fly by wire and a 3 wire like the deefer one and its only got a break in one position on one track it wont log a fault but when you get to the broken bit in the track the computer can get all confused and this gets worse if you have a break in each track but in 2 different spots or with a very slight overlap.

the fuel pressure regulator... if your not maintaining full fuel pressure you can get these symptoms but you also have a drop in overall top end power. (the fuel pump having a bad moment can do it too)

waste gate sticking open or the EGR system not closing correctly at idle?

and whats the boost pressure sensor doing, if its been blocked by a bit of crud you can get similar symptoms, I know it shouldnt be but if you just got yourself a bad hair day sensor and its not telling the ECU that the engine is starting to make boost you wont get extra fuel. Then as you get some boost if the pressure is enough to make the sensor react you'll get all the fuel and some instant go factor.

Fascinating. In normal cars switching off the DSC normally disables everything except ABS. It looks like LR know what they are on about

Correct... Disable the DSC and you'll find that traction control, etc... Still work and as Jamo correctly says, DSC is never fully disabled anyway. The throttle on the D3 is electronic and one of the things that the car will do is re-map the throttle response based on the Terrain Response program selected.

As one of the things that DSC can do is cut back the throttle, that's why I suggested trying to re-create the problem with DSC disabled. At least, if you managed to get the same problem, with DSC off, you'll know it's not that part of the software causing the problem.

I don't know what the problem is but whatever it is, the dealer should be sorting it out...

Has your squealer done a full diagnostic check on the instrument panel ?
If not then get them to do one.

I have been thinking of another dealer however not sure they would want to take this on.

Have just sent my dealer a terse email "not happy jan" etc reserving my rights in relations to TPA 75A etc.

    we will see I guess

They will just ignore you. In my experience next time you go in there it will be the closest experience you'll ever have to being invisible.

dunno, I might have to put my angry face on

especially if I time it for when they have several prospective customers. Oh I might just mention it to some media contacts I have and co-ordinate with them . . .

    that might get their attention

seems my emails did the trick, maybe something in the wording along the lines of "reserve my rights to . . . ", "unfit for purpose" & S75A TPA have struck a chord.

They want it back on monday to run through some checks and tests. Seems there is a TSB out on this issue. funny about that

Once that is done that want me to drive it for a few days, report how it is and then the following week they have the head of their technical dept up in Brisbane so they will send it do Austral Motors here in Brisbane and he will have it for the day to test etc. We will get a loaner D3.

at least they are trying so I will give them the benefit of the doubht till I feel I'm being treated like a mug again.

    Fingers crossed.

By the way has anybody fitted the genuine LR Spotties to their Disco? I have a set fitted and have to say they are rubbish, very poor light output, yellowish in output actually. Wondering if the loom is too light on in guage and or they have nopt run it via arelay to the battery. Might have to get it looked at.
