1. The manual I have is a little cryptic, but seems to suggest 99psi at the pump, 64psi at the oil cooler input and 42psi at the oil gallery, so at least these give the sort of range to expect. I talked to an owner with a gauge fitted yesterday who said he had 60psi in all conditions.
2. If you apply pressure to one end of a pipe, and there is nowhere for the oil to go except the sender, in other words, no flow, then the pressure at the sender end of the pipe will be the same as at the engine end. If there is air in the pipe, it will just give a short delay in reaction of the gauge, and this will only be long enough to notice if the pipe is very restricted.
